Veterans with a 100% service-connected disability rated PERMANENT AND TOTAL by the VA (or 100% based on individual unemployability rated P&T), honorably discharged, are exempt from all ad valorem (property) taxes on the assessed value of their homestead. The exemption also extends to unremarried surviving spouses.
Military retirement pay is fully exempt from Mississippi state income tax under Miss. Code Ann. 27-7-15, which excludes all qualified retirement income (including military pensions and Survivor Benefit Plan payments) regardless of amount or age.
